Lecture at Ashokrao Mane Group of Institutions: Empowering Student Initiative and Creativity Through Japan’s “Fun Fan Chat” Communication Method

Recently, I had the opportunity to give a lecture to students at Ashokrao Mane Group of Institutions (AMGOI) University, located in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India.

The theme of the lecture was “Fun Fan Chat,” a communication method originating in Japan.

Through the power of conversation, I shared how this method encourages each student to think independently, express themselves, and generate new ideas through dialogue with their peers.

Turning Learning into Something Personal

The engineering university we visited is home to approximately 10,000 students.

During the lecture, I asked a simple question:
“Who here believes that their dreams will come true?”

In contrast to a summit where nearly 600 participating students confidently raised their hands, many of the students attending this class responded more modestly, appearing unsure about their own futures.

However, even among them, I noticed students listening intently with shining eyes, earnestly absorbing each word. From their姿勢, I sensed a hopeful sign — a feeling that change might begin from here.

This experience reminded me once again that even within the same university, environments and encounters can profoundly shape a person’s mindset.

Education, I believe, is about delivering that very spark — the moment that opens new possibilities.

🌍 A Place of Learning That Connects Beyond Words

What left the strongest impression on me in India’s educational setting was the universal value that learning becomes a vital force for living.

Even across differences in culture and language, people can understand and grow together through dialogue.

Witnessing the students’ sincere and focused approach to learning was deeply inspiring, and it motivated me greatly as an educator.

Through Fun Fan Chat, I hope to continue expanding opportunities for cross-border learning and co-creating new forms of education that nurture the ability to live authentically and confidently.
